As you are probably aware, there is significant, reasonable proof that the main cause of acne comes from inside your body, not from outside. This is why washing and scrubbing and treating the outside of your skin, while certainly a good and healthy thing to do, may not have the effect of reducing your acne outbreaks. Medications, creams and other things can be useful once an outbreak occurs, of course, but it would be much better if they never happened.
Acne is caused when the pores which contain the hair follicles in our skin get clogged. No one yet understands why exactly these blockages occur, why they are more common in some people, or why they appear in varying degrees of severity. It is also not entirely understood why acne usually occurs during puberty, though during this time hormones are out of control and the sebaceous glands grow rapidly, both of which are probably the primary contributors to acne. When the hair follicles are clogged sebum, a naturally occurring skin oil, gets trapped in the pores. Normally, sebum is beneficial to the skin, helping prevent it from drying and fighting off skin rashes and infections. However, when sebum cannot drain because the pores are clogged, it wells up and become a Petri dish for growing bacteria.
2. Oatmeal! Now believe it or not (I didn't at first) oatmeal can actually help in curing your acne. Hey, don't knock it until you've tried it. Oatmeal dries up your oily pores, and draw out bacteria from inside your pores. What you do is cook the oatmeal, like you normall would for consumption. Then apply the oatmeal to your infected acne areas, leave on for around 30 minutes, then wash off with warm water!
